Galatians: A Life of Freedom - Chapter 1

What does it truly mean to have a relationship with God, and can we actually live in freedom? These are the million-dollar questions the book of Galatians sets out to answer, and they are just as urgent for us today as they were for the early church. As we open this six-week journey through Galatians, we are confronted with a startling reality: the church has always faced opposition, distortion, and the temptation to drift from the one true gospel. Paul writes to a diverse community in Galatia, a mixture of cultures, traditions, and backgrounds, not unlike our own communities today, warning them that adding anything to the gospel of Jesus Christ renders it no longer the gospel at all. Whether it is the ancient pressure of religious law or the modern gospels of self-fulfillment, moral relativism, material prosperity, or cheap grace, the pattern is the same. We are constantly tempted to trade the liberating truth of Jesus for something that feels more comfortable or culturally acceptable. The core message is both simple and profound: salvation is a free gift, received through faith in Christ alone, and it is available to every single one of us regardless of our past. This is not just good news. It is the greatest news of all time, and we carry it with us wherever we go.
