The Great Commission as a Call for the Whole Church

Oct 9, 2026  •  Mick Veach, Michael Braden

What if the greatest unfinished task in human history is one that every single one of us has a role in completing? Nearly four out of ten people on this planet have never once heard the name of Jesus. That staggering reality is not a statistic to gloss over -- it is a call to action that cuts to the heart of what it means to follow Christ. In this conversation, we are challenged to reconsider everything we thought we knew about the Great Commission. It is not a mandate reserved for a select group of professional missionaries. It belongs to all of us. Drawing from the words of Jesus in Matthew 28 and the vision of Acts 1:8, we are invited to see ourselves as part of a living, breathing mission that stretches from our own neighborhoods to the farthest corners of the earth. The question is not whether we are called -- we are. The question is how we will respond. Whether through prayer, financial generosity, befriending international neighbors, or crossing cultures entirely, there is a place for each of us in this story. This episode reminds us that taking Jesus at his word is not radical -- it is simply what faithfulness looks like.
