Know Him and Make Him Known - Get Out of the Boat
What does it truly mean to step out in faith when everything around us screams to stay safe? In this message, we dive into the familiar but endlessly rich account of Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14:22-33, where Jesus invites a frightened disciple to do the impossible in the middle of a storm. The central lesson is both simple and radical: we were not created for the boat. The boat represents comfort, predictability, and the path of least resistance, and yet most of us spend our entire lives never leaving it. We explore what separates Peter from the other disciples in that moment, and the answer is striking. While the others saw the storm, Peter saw Jesus. That single shift in focus made all the difference. We are challenged to ask ourselves honestly, what are we fixing our eyes on in our own storms? The message also unpacks what is called the blessing principle, the idea that being blessed by God is never meant to stop with us. From Abraham in Genesis 12 onward, the pattern is clear: we are blessed so that we can become a blessing to others and to the world. This reframes everything about why we exist and why the church exists. If we have experienced the love of Jesus, that experience carries a responsibility, an overflow that should naturally move us outward toward the people around us and the nations beyond us.
