| Middle School Teaching Series: “Nehemiah: Time to Pray” - Week 1: How to Pray
 The Big Idea was:
1. PRAY WITH INTENTION 2. PRAY OFTEN 3. PRAY WITH CONFIDENCE
Weekly Handout
Student Challenge: Read the whole book of Nehemiah by September 29th! Let me know and I will draw a raffle winner on that day for a small gift card.
Questions: 1. Why did Nehemiah care so much about a city a thousand miles away? Why did he think he was the one who could make a difference? 2. Nehemiah 2:2 says Nehemiah was terrified. Why do you think he was? Have there been times you were afraid and prayed? What happened? 3. Read Luke 11:2-4; what stands out to you from Jesus’ prayer? How is it like Nehemiah’s prayer? How is it different? 4. Why is it important for prayer to have these three parts: to praise God, ask for forgiveness, and make requests? 5. Is it hard to pray often? Why? How can we help each other pray often?
High School Teaching Series: "God Guys, and Girls" Week 1: Relationships
Sunday night was a great start to our series. There was a great atmosphere in the room, as students seemed ready to lean into this topic. You could sense our big idea really settle over the room as it was shared: “Unless I'm wholeheartedly pursuing a relationship with Christ, all other relationships will be a hopeless attempt to fill that void.” Amen. Mic drop. Boom. There is also a 28 day devotional on God’s love, that we handed out to every student on Sunday to go along with this series. We highly encourage everyone to engage with it every single day! If you want some help to get the conversation going with your students about this topic, here are a few questions:
- What was a highlight on the night for you?
- Do you see yourself as wholeheartedly pursuing a relationship with Christ? How or how not?
- Why do we sometimes value human relationships over our relationship with God?
- What would change in your life if you knew your identity in Christ and his love for you?
